National Research Seminar: Call for proposals!

WUSC is pleased to launch this year's National Research Seminar and to celebrate its first decade. Inaugurated by John Ralston Saul in 2003, the National Research Seminar explores a particular challenge in international development and provides a tremendous platform for emerging scholars to share their research findings with university and college students, faculty members, practitioners and policy makers from across Canada and the world.

We've arrived!!! We are waiting sleepily in the Istanbul airport arrivals lounge. Our colleagues from Sri Lanka are due to arrive shortly from the other side of the world. We're keen to see them!

Our flight from Ottawa to Istanbul was smooth and we met a couple of other AWID Forum participants along the way. Talking with them in the passport control line got us even more excited for the conference to start.

Happy World Water Day!

Safe and clean drinking water and sanitation is an essential human right. According to the United Nations, nearly 900 million people do not have access to safe drinking water.

WUSC has worked in the water and sanitation sector of Peru since 1982. Its projects, based on community participation, have improved access to water and sanitation services in 16 cities, 201 urban shantytowns and 205 rural communities.

Since 2010, 21 Canadians and 5 Peruvians have volunteered with WUSC in Peru through the Uniterra Program.
