National Research Seminar: Call for proposals!

WUSC is pleased to launch this year's National Research Seminar and to celebrate its first decade. Inaugurated by John Ralston Saul in 2003, the National Research Seminar explores a particular challenge in international development and provides a tremendous platform for emerging scholars to share their research findings with university and college students, faculty members, practitioners and policy makers from across Canada and the world.

We've arrived!!! We are waiting sleepily in the Istanbul airport arrivals lounge. Our colleagues from Sri Lanka are due to arrive shortly from the other side of the world. We're keen to see them!

Our flight from Ottawa to Istanbul was smooth and we met a couple of other AWID Forum participants along the way. Talking with them in the passport control line got us even more excited for the conference to start.

Our three Regional Liaison Officers and former Local Committee members Yves Kalala (Nipissing), Maggie Crump (Dalhousie) and Kalila Wilkinson (Vancouver Island University) have been the most important line of communication with our Local Committees.

From training sessions,campus visits, Faculty meetings and supporting youractivities, this stellar team has been invaluable to WUSC Campus. Thank you!

Lewis Perinbam Award:

Winner: Ryan Hreljac, Ryan's Well Foundation
At 20 years old, Ryan is the founder of the Ryan's Well Foundation, an organization committed to delivering access to safe water and empowering people of all ages to make a difference in the world. 
At the age of six, Ryan began raising money for those affected by the global water crisis and in 1999, seven years old Ryan Hreljac's first well was built in a Ugandan village.

In 2010, the Local Commitee People's Choice Awards were such a hit that we are asking Local Committees and delegates in the 2011 WUSC Annual General Assembly to vote for WUSC's Local Committees' People's Choice Awards! We invite you to nominate committees (your own or another) for the following categories. Winners will be based on most number of votes at the 2011 Annual General Assembly.
