Are you passionate about supporting the economic empowerment of youth?

As a Business Development Advisor E-volunteer with Artisans Association of Ghana (AAG) you will support in developing a sustainable business plan to guide the organization through recent changes to their program.

  • Guide the development of a sustainable business plan, taking into consideration the existing job matching platform;
  • Provide technical expertise on strategies for engaging with employers and key industry players in order to build the network of the organization;
  • Contribute to the research and evaluation of potential funding sources for the organization within the technical and vocational education and training sector in Ghana;
  • Provide training to organization staff on the business development plan;
  • Participate in pre-assignment online training;
  • Undertake public engagement and fundraising activities before, during, and after their volunteer assignment and will be equipped with tools, training, and support to achieve these goals;
  • Ensure the representation and engagement of women in all activities and program benefits;
  • Co-develop an e-volunteer work plan with the partner organization and WUSC country office using the WUSC volunteer work plan template;
  • Participate in organizational and project improvement activities such as surveys, assessments and learning/planning sessions;
  • Submit volunteer timesheets, reports and deliverables as required by the partner organization and WUSC.


  • Degree and/or training in business administration, or other relevant field;
  • Experience with and thorough understanding of business development planning, strategy and execution, demonstrated experience to develop new approaches is an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with private sector actors, and networking;
  • Ability to work independently as part of a remote working group;
  • Comfortable using online working platforms;
  • Access to a reliable internet connection;
  • A commitment to gender equality, youth inclusion, and international volunteering;
  • Experience with group facilitation and training, including content development;
  • Flexibility, adaptability, excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity;
  • Written and oral fluency in English;
  • Experience living and working internationally is a strong asset.


Partner Description:

The Artisans Association of Ghana (AAG) is a membership-based association working with a network of artisans that trains, upgrades and supports the certification of unskilled youth and master craftspeople, enabling them to provide services that meet global standards. Despite vast employment opportunities that the construction sector presents in Ghana, the participation of women and youth is hindered by limited information, appropriate skills and support services. As a membership association with over 5000 members from four regions of Ghana, Artisans Association of Ghana seeks partnerships with businesses, identifies employment opportunities, and provides training and certification for its members in line with country standards. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Artisans Association of Ghana implemented a five-year youth skills enhancement project. Aside from providing direct skills training to young people, this project also supported a job matching platform to offer contracts and jobs for artisans. The end of this project coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic and AAG is looking to develop a plan to sustain its business operations beyond the end of this project and the effects of the pandemic.
