As a Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor at Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC), you will assist in reviewing and improving the organization’s monitoring and evaluation strategy to improve their ability to grow, develop and improve their portfolio of programs and projects. You will also support in communicating the impact of KCIC’s projects and programs in Kenya.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Support a review of the existing monitoring and evaluation systems
- Based on the review, recommend and implement new monitoring and evaluation processes, tools and templates
- Conduct training, provide technical guidance and share best practices on the development, implementation and evaluation of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) systems in order to strengthen the capacity of staff members
- Collaborate with the partner to ensure that youth, particularly young women and marginalized youth, are included in any capacity strengthening activities focusing on program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
- Support in the documentation of results for learning and program reporting
- Support to promote KCIC projects and programs in Kenya through communication materials and sharing good practice in forums
- Support the inclusion of ESCA principles into the program design and engage ESCA stakeholders
- Ensure that a gender equality lens is consistently applied in the execution of all activities
- Participate in pre-assignment training
- Participate in at least 3 public engagement initiatives before, during, or after the assignment. Volunteers will be equipped with the tools, training, and support to achieve these goals. Volunteers will also have one virtual check-in with the Public Engagement Officer throughout the course of their assignment.
- Ensure that a gender equality lens is consistently applied in the execution of all activities.
- Support partners to empower young women and promote a culture of gender sensitive representation in all activities and program benefits.
- Submit reports as required by the partner organization and by WUSC.
Experience and Qualifications
- Degree and/or training in monitoring and evaluation, data management, international development, development studies, project management, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in program management, and monitoring and evaluation
- Ability to share learning and nurture a learning culture
- Commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding protocols
- A commitment to gender equality, youth inclusion, and international volunteering.
- Flexibility, adaptability, excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
- Experience with group facilitation and trainings, including content development considered an asset
- Experience living and working internationally considered an asset.
- Written and oral fluency in English.
Volunteering for development is one of the important ways in which WUSC pursues its mission. The IGNI+E project, funded by Global Affairs Canada, supports over 70 partner organizations to advance gender equality and the economic empowerment of 1.2 million youth around the world. IGNI+E harnesses the knowledge, capacity and expertise of skilled Canadians through volunteer assignments and public engagement activities to assist partners in improving their performance, advocating for gender equality, and implementing more sustainable, innovative and inclusive initiatives and services for poor and marginalised youth, particularly young women. Overseas, our volunteers collaborate with a wide variety of partners, including enterprise and social enterprise development incubators, skills training centres, women's organizations, and youth groups. In Canada, WUSC works with institutions and individuals to identify, prepare, and support volunteers who travel overseas to support our partners. Our network in Canada also works with WUSC to raise awareness among Canadians to inspire greater action on global development issues. Our collective focus is on sustainable and inclusive changes to create a better world for youth.
Kenya Climate Innovation Centre (KCIC) offers incubation, capacity building and financing options to new, small and medium business ventures and Kenyan entrepreneurs that are developing innovations to address the challenges of climate change. KCIC provides holistic and country-driven support to accelerate the development, deployment and transfer of locally relevant climate technologies.By providing business support, financing and education, KCIC empowers the private sector to deliver innovative climate change solutions and provide strategic direction on matters such as policy, advocacy and sustainable development. They provide technical expertise and mentorship in different spheres of business management, technical skills and competencies in order to turn appropriate technologies into feasible enterprises. They leverage their direct experience of working with private sector innovators to inform relevant government regulations, policies and strategies to encourage the adoption of profitable local innovation.
