North and South panel exchange on preventing and addressing gender-based violence

North & South Panel Exchange: Preventing and addressing GBV

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign that takes place annually commencing on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day, indicating that violence against women is the most pervasive breach of human rights worldwide.

This year, the UN WOMEN 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign theme is “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!”. As stated in the UN Secretary-General’s report “Shared Responsibility, Global Solidarity: Responding to the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19″, everyone in society has an important role to play in ending violence against women and girls and we all must work together across sectors to address the various aspects of violence against women and girls.

To advocate ending gender-based violence during the 16 Days of Activism, WUSC invites you to a joint North and South Panel Exchange Wednesday, November 25, 2020, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am EST.

Our panel will be moderated by Stephanie McBride, Education Advisor at WUSC and feature four panelists, Kaoutar Kaddouri, Project Manager @whiteribboncampaign (https://web.facebook.com/whiteribboncampaign), Hawa Y. Mire, Executive Director @fafia.afai Canadian Feminist Alliance for International Action,(https://web.facebook.com/fafia.afai), Mohamed Omar Othowa, a remedial teacher @Windle.Intl.Ke Windle International Kenya (https://web.facebook.com/Windle.Intl.Ke) and Rawia Na’oum, Gender Equality Specialist @WUSCJO WUSC Jordan (https://web.facebook.com/WUSCJO). The panelists will be sharing their work on preventing and responding to GBV in their programming. At the end of the panel discussion, there will be an opportunity for an interactive Q&A session between the attendees and panelists.

Les participants auront la possibilité de poser leurs questions en français.
