WUSC is very saddened to hear about the death of dedicated WUSC alumnus Robert Kaplan, P.C., Q.C., B.A., LL.B. He passed away in November after a long battle with cancer.

Kaplan led a life full of achievements. As a former veteran Liberal MP and cabinet minister, he is probably best known for his 1980-84 stint as Canada’s solicitor general and for the creation of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.

He was a participant in the 1957 International Seminar to Ghana and then became a strong advocate for WUSC and our programs. During the 50th anniversary of the 1957 seminar, he graciously organized a reunion at his home.
