Remembering Arthur Pape (1942 – 2012)
December 20, 2012
WUSC would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Arthur Charles Pape who passed away on December 6, 2012. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Arthur was a lawyer who spent most of his career fighting for Aboriginal and workers’ rights across Canada. From a young age he fought for social justice and peace. This commitment carried over in 1962 when Arthur participated in the WUSC International Seminar to Poland.
Arthur went to law school in 1976 so to further focus on social justice and Aboriginal issues. Arthur and his best friend, Rick Salter, started the law firm Pape and Salter in 1982. His legacy will live on in his wife, children and grand-children.
