Remembering Macdonald Mbicholo (1976 – 2008)
WUSC is saddened by the loss of a cherished staff member in our Malawi office. Mr. Macdonald Mbicholo passed away in the evening of July 31, following a severe asthma attack.
A dynamic young man, Macdonald joined WUSC Malawi as an Administrative Assistant in early 2005. His enthusiasm and hard work earned him praise from his co-workers and led to a promotion in 2007 to Assistant Program Officer responsible for WUSC’s Students Without Borders TM and Bike for Aids programs in Malawi.
WUSC staff, volunteers and partners expressed shock. WUSC’s Associate Executive Director, Ravi Gupta, recalls meeting Macdonald on his last visit. “We had many wonderful discussions about his family and his career plans. To lose someone at such a young age is a huge tragedy.” He personally expressed his sincere condolences to Macdonald’s wife, Atupele, and two young daughters’ on behalf of all WUSC staff.
His remains are commemorated in the Lilongwe cemetery.
