As a Communication Officer, you will be essential in bridging the gap between the private sector and Technical Universities and Vocational Training Centers. This role is ideal for a dynamic individual with strong communication skills and a talent for developing strategic partnerships that drive impactful outcomes. You will leverage your expertise in stakeholder engagement to enhance TAWASOL project results and contribute significantly to the project's success.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinate with WUSC and CLIC communications teams on branding, event and activity messaging, to ensure that standards and branding policies are adhered to
- Assist in crafting and disseminating event and activity messaging
- Contribute to the preparation of project reports, success stories, case studies, and annual reports
- Write and edit blog posts, press releases, and articles to highlight project milestones and success stories
- Support managers in their daily tasks and activities.
- Participate in pre-assignment training
- Participate in at least 3 public engagement initiatives before, during, or after the assignment. Volunteers will be equipped with the tools, training, and support to achieve these goals. Volunteers will also have one virtual check-in with the Public Engagement Officer throughout the course of their assignment.
- Submit reports as required by the partner organization and by WUSC.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related field
- Previous experience in a similar volunteer or professional role
- Knowledge of branding and communications standards
- Passion for gender equality and environmental sustainability
- Strong communication and problem-solving skill
- Minimum two (2) years relevant professional experience in your field of expertise.
- A commitment to gender equality, youth inclusion, and international volunteering.
- Flexibility, adaptability, excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
- Experience with group facilitation and trainings, including content development considered an asset
- Experience living and working internationally considered an asset.
- Written and oral fluency in English.
Project Description
TAWASOL is a five year collaborative project (April 2023 – March 2028) that will enhance economic empowerment for female and male youth in Iraq. TAWASOL will work with partners to establish more inclusive employment environments enabling youth to make the transition from training to employment, and increasing more equitable participation of male and female youth graduates in the workforce. TAWASOL will be implemented with local partners in four locations in Iraq: Baghdad, Basra, Najaf and Mosul. TAWASOL is funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and its consortium partner Canadian Leaders in International Consulting (CLIC).
