As the Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor with Kawjo Foundation in Lilongwe, Malawi, you will support the improvement of monitoring and evaluation systems to effectively measure programmatic outcomes and communicate organizational impact.

Roles and Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the team, support a review of the existing monitoring and evaluation systems
- Collaborate in providing technical guidance to develop monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) systems and quality management for existing systems and framework
- Analyze, interpret and share the findings and results with key decision makers
- Assist the team in conducting staff training on MEAL concepts
- Ensure young women and marginalized youth, are included in all capacity strengthening activities with a focus on program design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation
- Ensure that a gender lens is applied in programming and communications
- Support partners to reduce their environmental footprint and using environmental friendly practices throughout the assignment
- Participate in pre-assignment training
- Participate in at least 3 public engagement initiatives before, during, or after the assignment. Volunteers will be equipped with the tools, training, and support to achieve these goals. Volunteers will also have one virtual check-in with the Public Engagement Officer throughout the course of their assignment
- Set up a personalized volunteer fundraising page on the WUSC fundraising platform and share it in your networks. Volunteers will be supported with the tools, training and support to achieve the fundraising goal
- Submit reports as required by the partner organization and by WUSC.
Experience and Qualifications
- Degree in international development, political science, economics or a related discipline
- Proven ability to translate complex material and data into coherent narratives
- Experience in drafting clear and effective policy reports, briefing papers and media articles
- Excellent oral communication skills, experience and confidence speaking at high level events
- Minimum two (2) years relevant professional experience in your field of expertise
- A commitment to gender equality, youth inclusion, and international volunteering
- Flexibility, adaptability, excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
- Experience with group facilitation and trainings, including content development considered an asset
- Experience living and working internationally considered an asset
- Written and oral fluency in English.
Partner Description
Kawjo Foundation is a non-profit organization which was established in 2008 and is currently led by young women. The vision of the foundation is to transform for the better the lives of the vulnerable and low income Malawians. It aims at transforming the lives of people through impactful projects in climate change, agriculture, entrepreneurship and education. It works in community development by providing services in Education through material assistance to various primary schools, agriculture and aquaculture and fisheries where inter-grated agriculture practices are intensified. The organization has implemented a number of projects including the recent one on promoting women led markets in Malawi through upscaling and promoting the use of climate smart fish processing technologies (Fish-clime) which was funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented through Aspern Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE). Aside being mainly (about 80%) managed by women, Kawjo has vested efforts in promoting women in marginalized communities. Basically, the organization endorses a minimum of 60% inclusion of women and youth participation in an effort to achieve 2030 Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) and Malawi gender policy that inclusively aims at achieving gender equality and empowering all women and also creating a strong voice for the youth in Malawi and beyond.
